This is a picture of a Peacock Butterfly.
This photo was taken whilst we were visiting Elcho Castle, pictures of which are also included on this website. This Peacock Butterfly had managed to find its way into the castle and was sat on the stone window ledge with natural light streaming in, as can be seen on this picture.
You can see from the picture that the Peacock Butterfly is a beautiful insect with colourful, patterned wings.
